What is Your Passion?

I

What do you love to read, to do, to dream? We all have dreams at some point in our life, but sometimes those dreams are shattered. I know because a few of mine were crippled, but then love came along and healed me from depression, fear, doubt and rejection. Now my heart is full of joy. Well.. not all the time, but more and more.

My books and my writings reflect the hope that God planted in me through trials and storms. He gave me a great love for people, nature, beauty and story telling. I also enjoy a good mystery and suspense, so you'll find that in my debut novel...

A sinister, dark force hovers over the unsuspecting valley when Margo Pierson discovers a tattered letter illuminating a mysterious ancestor and warning them of "a diabolical evil that stalks this town."  Margo, the young potter, is catapulted into a quest to unearth the truth and expose the uncanny murder of her namesake. Unwittingly, she and her companions stumble upon an ancient stone that holds the secret to both the past and present dangers. Can Margo survive and foil the deadly curses set in motion centuries ago?

Excerpts

Margo stared at the tattered piece of brittle paper in disbelief. A gust of wind almost tore it from her hands, but the cold blast quickly died. Her eyes raced across the faded, amber-colored letter as she struggled to absorb its meaning. She stood transfixed and read the vehement warning written with a fountain pen in red ink. "There is a diabolical evil that stalks this town." The next sentences were barely legible, but she could make out a phrase: “a true-blood Dubier.” The name sounded familiar from her research. Margo thought it might be one of the founding town fathers. She backtracked and deciphered a few preceding words. “They are closer than

you think. Beware!”

The autumn leaves blazed a trail down the mountainside, spilling into a pool of cornfields outside of town. Mesmerized by nature’s beauty and mulling over the letter’s contents, Margo missed the stop sign. A car went speeding through and nearly crashed into her. She jumped and slammed on the brakes. Her car skidded to a stop.

Margo watched the spectacular sunset from her studio window, glad summer had come to a close and the heat dissipated. Puffy cumulus clouds painted a rich red sunset over the hills of New Coven. Etched against the crisp black edges of the surrounding mountains, she studied the contrast of dark and light. A painter’s dream, she thought. But in a moment, the bright colors faded and the sun descended, swallowed by the dark mountains.
